Calla - Zantedeschia
The Calla comes from southern Africa, in the 18th century the plant traveled north with the Italian botanist Giovanni Zantedeschi (hence the name Zantedeschia). In Africa, the plant often grows at the bottom of slopes, where it can be nice and swampy due to stagnant rainwater. The plant stores that water in its root tuber, in order to survive a drier period. In your garden or on the balcony, the container plant does well in pots and containers. Prefer in the open ground? Then place the Calla near a pond, where it is slightly damp.
